3 Makeup Fails & How to Prevent Them

We’ve all seen those awful memes on the web, with women whose eyebrows look like they have been drawn on in the dark, with a Sharpie. Then there are the overlined lips that leave women looking more like a horror clown than a beauty queen. Changing and enhancing your appearance with makeup doesn’t have to be like that, though.

Read on to find out why.

Makeup Fail 1: The Wrong Foundation Shade

I’m not sure when it became ok to have an orange face, but as far as I was aware that isn’t a natural skin tone. Unless your goal is to look like you’ve had a terrible fake tan accident, you need to make sure that your foundation matches your skin tone. Most people do this by swatching the colors on the back of their hands, but this is a bad idea. The skin tone on the back of your hand may be a lot different to the one on your face. That why it is so important to try it on your cheek and underneath your eye to get a good match.

Makeup Fail 2: Crazy Eyebrows

Back when I was in high school it used to be fashionable to have very thin eyebrows. We saw it in the fifties with Marilyn Monroe and again in the eighties. The problem is that now thick or HD brows are in fashion. So what do all those women that had shaved or plucked their eyebrows into submission do? That right, they grab an eye brow pencil and draw them on. Now there is nothing wrong with a nice ombre brow if it is well executed, but there are also ladies out there that draw their brows on and look shocked or very, very angry or scary! If you are not as confident applying your brows, head to Youtube and check out a tutorial or two. With a bit of practice, and the right product, you can get a natural looking HD brow with a lot of impact, so there’s no excuse for monster brows people!

Makeup Fail 3: Badly Overpainted Lips

It is important to note that there is a difference between a good and a bad overpainted lip. The idea of over painting your lips is to give you a fuller effect. The problem is that many people use gloss lipsticks to try to do this and then end up looking like an extra for the film IT. Bad idea. The issue with an overpainted lip in gloss is that it is so easy to see where you real lip ends and the false lip begins. This is because of the shine. It’s much better to use a matt lipstick and seal it properly if you are attempting this look.

Of course, if the size and plumpness of your lips is something that bothers you a lot, speak to someone about other more permanent solutions. If this is something you have been thinking about, definitely do your research and look for answers from the right people like belcarahealth.com. Opting for a treatment or more permanent procedures, you can  plump out the lips and add volume where you need it most. Of course, just make sure you do your research!
