DIY- transitioning a summer classic for Fall

DIY- transitioning a summer classic for Fall

IMG_1317

Fall is in full force in Toronto. It’s out with the flirty minis and open toe shoes and in with flannel, riding boots and pumpkin spiced lattes.

What I’m not quite ready to bid adieu is the colourful arm candy that ruled the summer, stacked bracelets were a staple in most of my warm weather looks.

To master this look for fall, change things up by incorporating richer colours and sturdier materials. Metal and leather are two of my favourite materials to mix and match for fall.

For DIY-ers and their less crafty counterparts, try this simple bracelet for fall.

All you need are:

  • Pliers – no special crafting tools needed, any old pliers will do
  • Metal chain of your choice – buy more than you think you need. These may just become your new friendship bracelet of the season
  • A bead of your choice- if you like it then you gotta put some bling on it… see what I did there?
  • Jump rings- these are inexpensive and easy to find at any craft store. Or repurpose some from an old piece you no longer use.
  • Closure of your choice

Step 1:

Use your pliers to open the chain links at the desired length for your bracelet. It is always better to overestimate and downsize later, plus it’s nice to have a little wiggle room.

Step 2:

Attach jump rings to the bead or bauble that you chose. These jump rings will help you securely attach the bead to either end of the chain.

Step 3:

Make an opening with your pliers opposite to the bead to attach the closure. Try to get this as close to the middle of the bracelet as possible to help ensure it will lay evenly on your wrist.

Step 4:

Use your new bracelet as statement jewellery, or one more piece to add to your stacked arm candy look for fall.
