Fit Friday: Four Important Tips For Healthy Living

Fit Friday: Four Important Tips For Healthy Living

With Christmas only a few days away and the new year quickly approaching, I’m sure many, such as myself can feel the Winter weight already starting to pile on. How about we change things, shall we? Let’s overcome the urge to pack on the lbs and get back to a healthy lifestyle altogether!

See below for our four tips to keep you healthy and fit for the Winter.

1) Workout 30-60 minutes 5-6 times a week.

A workout a day decreases risk of Cancer, Heart Disease, Depression, Obesity, Alzheimers and strengths your immune system so you can fight off illnesses. Not to mention, it also helps you feel and look great inside and out. Exercise can also help you feel more accomplished and social (if you work out at a gym). Even if you don’t see immediate results in your body, that effort will make you feel better and a bit of confidence can go a long way.

It’s no secret that healthy living will keep you alive longer, but you might be surprised at how much. One study found that exercise improves life expectancy. It really is true that sitting all day is killing you and just a bit of regular exercise can help you live longer.

2) Drink half your body weight in ounces of water a day.

There are some very powerful reasons to drink a lot of water every day, and forming the habit isn’t hard, with a little focus.

The thing about it is, we don’t often focus on this habit. We end up drinking coffee, and lots of soda, and alcohol, not to mention fruit juices and teas and milk and a bunch of other possibilities. Water is needed in every living cell in your body for digestion, elimination, the synovial fluid in our joints and so much more.

Water is one of the best tools for weight loss, first of all because it often replaces high-calorie drinks like soda and juice and alcohol with a drink that doesn’t have any calories. But it’s also a great appetite suppressant, and often when we think we’re hungry, we’re actually just thirsty. Water has no fat, no calories, no carbs, no sugar. Drink plenty to help your weight-loss regimen.

Drinking water can clear up your skin and people often report a healthy glow after drinking water. It won’t happen overnight, of course, but just a week of drinking a healthy amount of water can have good effects on your skin.3) Eat three to five servings of Green Vegetables a day

The latest dietary guidelines call for five to thirteen servings of vegetables a day (2½ to 6½ cups per day), depending on one’s caloric intake.  For a person who needs 2,000 calories a day to maintain weight and health, this translates into nine servings, or 4½ cups per day ( 2½ cups of vegetables). For most fresh or cooked vegetables, 1 cup is just what you would put in a household measuring cup. There are two main exceptions to that rule: For lettuce and other raw leafy greens, you need to eat 2 cups to get the equivalent of 1 cup of vegetables.

Green leafy vegetables such as lettuce, spinach, Swiss chard, and mustard greens; cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, bok choy, and kale; and citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruit (and their juices) make important contributions to a lower chance of cardiovascular disease.

4) Drink two to three cups of Green tea with lemon a day.

Alkalinize the body and help strengthen your immune system to fight off all diseases and they are filled with vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients to strengthen your cells.

Drinking green tea will strengthen your immune system and decrease your risk of cancer. Green Tea has catechins which have been proven to decrease and stop the growth of caner cells and it also increases your body’s fat burning ability, while lemon is a weak acid that has alkalizing effects on the body strengthening your immunity.

Drinking green tea can help stare you away from five of the most common health problems within society:

  • Cholesterol. Green tea reduces bad cholesterol in the blood and improves the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol.
  • Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. It is said to delay the deterioration caused by Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Studies carried out on mice showed that green tea protected brain cells from dying and restored damaged brain cells.
  • Tooth Decay. Studies suggests that the chemical antioxidant “catechin” in tea can destroy bacteria and viruses that cause throat infections, dental caries and other dental conditions
  • Diabetes. Green tea apparently helps regulate glucose levels slowing the rise of blood sugar after eating. This can prevent high insulin spikes and resulting fat storage.
  • Heart Disease. Scientists think, green tea works on the lining of blood vessels, helping keep them stay relaxed and better able to withstand changes in blood pressure. It may also protect against the formation of clots, which are the primary cause of heart attacks
