National Rum Day Spicy Bacardi Daiquiri Recipe

It always seems like every day there is some type of celebration, and while I usually don’t jump on those bandwagons (unless I’m celebrating donuts or ice cream), I just knew that I had to celebrate National Rum Day! As I’ve mentioned before here, some of my best memories with friends and family have included rum, so I thought that there was no better way to celebrate National Rum Day, than with a delicious recipe that I plan to enjoy tonight after work!

After mastering my rum Mojito and a few other concoctions that my friends and family have loved, I wanted to share a very simple but yummy recipe, one that really allows my favourite, BACARDÍ Gran Reserva Maestro de Ron to shine! Created by one Canada’s top bartenders, Lee Peppink, this recipe is my personal favourite Bacardi cocktail to enjoy on this special occasion!

A masterpiece in the making, BACARDÍ Gran Reserva Maestro de Ron is the product of over 150 years of rum making expertise; double aged in white Oak casks for a superbly smooth taste, it embodies the versatility of a mixing spirit without sacrificing the bold characteristics of an aged, super-premium liquid.With clear, subtle notes of plum, spice, caramel, and vanilla, try it in a refreshing BACARDÍ Maestro Collins or sipped over ice.

If BACARDÍ Gran Reserva Maestro de Ron doesn’t float your boat, then I am also a huge fan of their Ocho Años. They are both super-premium expressions of BACARDÍ rum and make for the perfect mixed cocktail to enjoy with friends and family on this National Rum Day!

SPICY BACARDÍ DAIQUIRI
Created by: Lee Peppink, Living Room, Calgary

2 parts BACARDÍ Gran Reserva Maestro 1 part fresh squeezed lime juice
2 teaspoons fine sugar
3 dashes Bittercube Bolivar bitters

Method: Shake, double strain and serve in a chilled coupe. Garnish with a spicy lime wheel. Method for spicy lime wheel: clove, anise and pepper dredge.
