Roots 2012 Spring Preview

Roots 2012 Spring Preview

On a chilly Wednesday evening, Roots on Bloor st opened its doors to their warm flagship store for bloggers to enjoy a sneak peak of what it coming for their Spring 2012 leather collection.

Being an employee of Roots Canada myself, I already am a huge fan of the company and knew that this upcoming collection was one to watch. It is safe to say that I was not disappointed in the least.

The collection had two opposite themes but pulled together very nicely in order to reach all customers of Roots, no matter what age or style. A mixture of bright hues in orange, hot pink and yellow, as well as the subtle natural tones in stonewash and jean. You are easily swayed to conjure up ideas of possible outfits and items that would go with this collection as it is a refreshing mix of brights and naturals.

Not only were the bags irresistible, but the shoes and jackets were easily swooned over. I have come to realize and truly believe that a varsity jacket is an absolute necessity for 2012. The outfits to complement the style are endless and while I am a huge fan of masculine pieces, it is a great option for style and warmth when worn with feminine pieces. And lets be honest, a man in a varsity…ahem. Hubba hubba.

While the shoes are not exactly my usual style, it is hard to ignore that the styles are for comfort and still stylish. There is no denying that any of the shoes in this collection can be worn with summer shorts, floral dresses and well, just about anything for the spring and summer season. I am a firm believer that flats always seem to fall apart and are never good for the posture. However, with Roots leather being so incredibly strong and durable, there is no telling how long these puppies will last you.

In all, I think Roots did an amazing job at showcasing their strengths in their leather for this spring collection but yet dip outside the box to unveil a fun and edgier look that can fit in your wardrobe and yet never lose that Roots theme we have all known and loved since 1973.
