Here are a basic list of tools that will help you fix most of the things you come across at home.

Cordless Drill

The cordless drill is the best invention since sliced bread. We could have had them decades ago, but we had to wait for the technology to produce powerful and long-lasting batteries. It does much more than drill holes; most people use it as a powerful screwdriver that can force screws in without much effort. They all come with variable speed triggers these days and once you get used to the feel of them they are easy to operate.

Hammers

A robust claw hammer is a useful tool. You can insert nails with one end of it, and pull them out with a claw at the other end. There are many styles on the market, but I advise you to choose one with thick rubber grip on the handle. A small tack hammer will help you knock small nails into the wall without hitting your fingers. Try to get one with a claw.

Screwdrivers

Though the cordless drill will perform most tasks, a high-quality set of screwdrivers is essential. How many times have you seen someone try to put a plug on a cable with a kitchen knife? It isn’t good practice. Use the correct tool for the job every time.
