Time management.

This is something that most busy individuals face everyday, and yet, when we are told “You have as many hours in the day as Beyonce” I am left wondering how she does it all! That, or she must have some serious help, because where does the time go?

It’s true that being lazy gets you nowhere but working too hard and overexerting yourself definitely doesn’t help you as well. Sometimes, it’s not about working harder, but working smarter, so here are 5 tips to help you manage your time effectively so you can accomplish more and keep your sane hood.

Prioritize

This may be the hardest, but to me, this is the most important part of time management. There is no denying that we all have our long list of to-do’s (especially with it being the holidays), so prioritizing your schedule will help you tackle your to-do list in the best way possible. Looking at a long list can make you feel overwhelmed, but taking a step further and numbering each item on your list in terms of importance will help you check things off easier. Just because a job is bigger doesn’t mean its more important, so keep yourself from feeling overwhelmed and prioritize your schedule and lists.

Set A Time Limit For Each Task

This is something so incredibly helpful to me. Just simply giving myself a time limit for each task really helps me stay on track. As a blogger who has a part time job but also works from home, I can get so carried away with different projects I am working on at the same time. This is why I give myself a time limit. I dedicate a day, an hour or a few hours to one particular project and not only does it keep me organized, but it actually motivates me to work efficiently. Say you have a large project, break the project down into a few steps and give each step a time limit. You will actually be amazed at how much this helps!

Block Out Distractions

Girlllll the struggle is real! I consider myself a creative person, so distractions can totally take me to another world and its true that my to-do list can sometimes suffer from it. As much as I like to scan my social media – Instagram, Snapchat, you name it, it will only hurt you in the end. I’m not saying you won’t have time for distractions, but when you want to tackle your to-do list, block out the distractions so you can concentrate, so when you are done with what you want to finish, you can enjoy those distractions when you have the time to relax. Yes, relax  – I will get to that soon!

Learn to Say “NO”

By far, this is my biggest struggle. As much as I am a busy bee, I do know that sometimes I just take on too much. Of course, I never want to turn down an opportunity to further myself or miss out on something amazing, but when I take on too much, I end up actually getting sick – physically and mentally sick. That’s why this year I have made it a point to not take on too much and overexert myself. I think carefully about the work I do and what I add to my to-do list so I can keep my sanity.

Know When You Need a Break

Time management isn’t just about managing your time to complete things on your to-do list, but time management also helps manage the time you have, so you DO get that time to relax. With it being the holidays, it can be the busiest time of the year for some, and as a blogger, I consider this to be a really busy time for me. Not only am I taking the time to relax, but I am also soaking up all that the Holidays offer.

When I get a chance to take a break, I am always curling up with a book or magazine and a cup of Nespresso. A bubble bath and coffee is also my favourite thing to do now that it’s wintertime. Nespresso’s new Limited Edition Holiday flavours are tasty and the perfect addition to some holiday cookies. I’m currently indulging in the gingerbread flavour! Like I mentioned, taking a break is always needed when your to-do list is massive. It will give you a peace of mind, and will allow you to regroup and collect your thoughts on how to tackling your other projects.

If the holidays are getting a little overwhelming and your to-do list is getting crazy, indulge in Nespresso with me and enjoy their Holiday flavours now.
