Travel Memories: New York City

Travel Memories: New York City

I may not have travelled everywhere in the world, but with a few trips under my belt, I’ve come to realize that sometimes it’s not about how glamorous the trip is, how long or even where exactly you’re going that make the best memories, but rather the experience of it all.

As I prepare and indulge in the current festive holiday season, I reminisce of one of the best trips I have ever been on – and mainly because it was a specific trip I have dreamt about since I was little.

For me, New York City is definitely a familiar place where I visit often since I was young. From Toronto, it’s an easy trip that gives one so much satisfaction with a number of things to do, see, eat, shop and enjoy, and though it may not be the tropics or Europe, it is easily a place to visit for a guaranteed good time. It was exactly this time two years ago I headed to the big apple to get swept up in NYC around the holidays and it turned out being a trip to remember.

NYC during the Christmas holidays is a MUST if you haven’t experienced it already. The first time I ever saw Home Alone 2 and the glorious look of NYC during Christmas, I was hooked. Since I was a kid I begged my parents each year to take us there as a family, but being one of seven kids, I came to realize it wasn’t going to happen. Two years ago however, after making a big career change I decided that it was the perfect time to go and finally check off an item on my bucket list.

Union Square’s holiday market on the weekend, Skating at Rockefeller Centre, a horse drawn carriage ride through central park and an evening watching The Rockettes were only a few reasons why the trip was so special. It seemed like every street lit up with Christmas lights and everyone was in the holiday spirit, which enhanced the experience!

Luckily I’ll be returning soon to visit my lovely NYC, but this time I’ll be bringing along my Capital One Aspire Travel World Elite MasterCard to maximize on the big city fun as I redeem and save! Since Capital One Canada has made exciting modifications to their Aspire Travel rewards cards, redeeming rewards is easier than ever and can easily go towards my travel-related expenses like unexpected airline fees and even limos to the airport!

Rather than having to incur these expenses while travelling, some of these costs can be covered by redeeming my travel reward points! The Capital One Aspire Travel MasterCards have a number of premium benefits for cardholders so I can book my own trip – including the hotel, airline or rental car of my choice, pay for these costs and the taxes on my travel with my reward miles and, most importantly, enjoy the freedom of no blackout dates or hidden fees!

Whether you opt for the Aspire Travel World Elite MasterCard or The Aspire Travel Platinum MasterCard, you will have the vacation essential that will allow you to save more when planning your next trip like I am! You can find more information on the rewards cards here and share with us on Twitter what your favourite vacation was using #C1Aspire!
