12 Things No Woman Should Leave The House Without

Have you ever left the house and had that horrible feeling you’ve forgotten something? I know a lot of us have! Normally it’s something that you can survive the whole day without, but other times it’s something vital – like your keys. I thought it’d be a fun idea to put together a handbag checklist. Featuring all the items you should never leave the house without. Some are super serious, and some are a little bit of fun. Print it off, stick it on your front door, and never get that dreaded feeling again!

1. Keys

Okay, let’s start off with the most obvious one here. If you leave the house without your keys, then chances are you won’t be getting back in. Hands up if you’re prone to losing your keys, however! Try investing in a key finder that shrills when you clap your hands. It’s such a great idea if you’re always losing them. Or, you could put a key hook right next to your front door. Although let’s be honest, who actually uses one of those?!

2. Purse

You can’t go and meet a friend for coffee without your purse. Even if you’re just popping out, it’s always worth sticking your wallet in your favourite handbag. You never know what you might find on your adventures. A good rule of thumb is always to have a few pounds worth of change spare. Perfect for emergency purchases. Like Starbucks. Make sure you check everything is in your purse before you head out. Bank cards, ID, the works.

3. Drivers License

I’ve kind of already touched on this in the purse section, but it does need a whole space of its own. Don’t leave the house without your driving license! If you don’t drive then make sure you have some form of ID on you at all times. You may need it when you stop off for cocktails. Or, you may need it if you were to get into an accident. Hopefully, that will never happen. Take it with you, just in case.

4. Phone

There’s nothing worse than getting halfway to your destination and realising you’ve forgotten your phone. If you’re only popping out then it’s not so bad. However, if you’re planning on a day trip, then it could be incredibly annoying to go without a phone. What if you get lost?! Remember to invest in protection for your phone if it’s going to be in your bag. You can even get iPhone 6 cases that match your outfit if you’re that way inclined! Oh and always make sure it’s fully charged. A dead phone is a useless phone.

5. Hand Sanitizer

There’s a reason you can now get hand sanitizer in handy, purse sizes. It’s because you should take one with you at all times. You never know when you’re going to need to wash your hands. Sugary doughnut over lunch? No probs. Just pull out the hand sanitizer. Honestly, once you have one of these in your bag, you’ll never go back.

6. Chapstick

Dry and flaky lips are not fresh. Imagine bumping into the man of your dreams, only to find that your lips are peeling as you talk. Okay, so that may or may not happen. Either way, it’s always worth carrying a chapstick around. You can also get ones specially made for summer, containing SPF. Handy for our current heatwave!

7. Feminine Products

Ahem. I hope this one doesn’t make you feel too uncomfortable. After all, it’s a pretty natural thing. You should always carry tampons or sanitary towels in your bag. Even if you’re not due for another three weeks. Mother Nature works in mysterious ways and loves to catch us short. You may also help out another woman in need by carrying spares. We’ve all been there!

8. Minty Products

Gum, mints, Tic Tacs, whatever takes your fancy. It’s always a good idea to carry around some kind of minty freshener wherever you go. Again, you might bump into that man of your dreams. The one that suddenly wants to kiss you, because your lips are soft and supple (see chapstick). However, your breath smells like the tuna sandwich you had at lunch. Nice!

9. Painkillers

Every woman knows the wrath of an unexpected headache. Or period cramps. Therefore, no woman should ever leave the house without painkillers. You don’t need the whole bathroom cabinet in your bag. Just some paracetamol will do. How many times have you been out and someone has asked around for painkillers? I bet it’s often! Be the saviour with your little medical supply.

10. Plasters

To add to your little medical supply, make sure you carry around plasters too. Nobody ever means to get into a scrape, but it does happen. Especially on nights out. High heels and cocktails don’t mix. You can get loads of fun and quirky designs if you’re not a fan of the fleshy looking bandaids.

11. Mini Beauty Kit

Some people carry around their whole makeup bag, a nail kit, and hair styling products whenever they leave the house. You don’t need all of this! Not unless you’re Beyonce. Make yourself a mini beauty kit that can be slotted into your bag at any time. Take just the makeup essentials, a mini hairspray and a nail file. Anything else is just going to weigh you down.

12. A Camera

Finally, a must-have if you’re a blogger like me. Even if you’re not a blogger, I’d fully suggest carrying a camera around. You never know when you’re going to spot something truly incredible. You could use the camera on your phone if it’s decent quality. However, there’s nothing quite like a photo taken using a proper camera. Photos last forever, so you can always treasure those important memories.
