An Instagrammer’s Guide to Hamilton, Ontario

Just last Friday my gal pal and fellow blogger, Natalie and I decided to take a day trip to Hamilton, Ontario for a little food and a little fun! Hamilton is just over an hour away from Toronto and we had been hearing great things all around about their upcoming food scene and little gems like Hello Baked and Motel Restaurant so we had to plan a mini road trip and see it for ourselves!

Wondering why we just had to head to Hamilton for the day? Keep scrolling for my favourite spots!

Food & Drink

To be completely honest, Hamilton isn’t exactly the most beautiful spot to venture to in my opinion, but the restaurants alone will have you coming back for more! Natalie and I clearly waited too long to eat because we didn’t get to finish our meals at Motel, but we have already made a note of all the cute spots and delicious meals we plan to have the next time we are in “The Hammer”. We visited Motel Hamilton at the beginning of our day and my Lord, I’m still mourning the loss of not finishing my meal. I urge you to pop in here for a yummy brunch and enjoy their chicken & waffles or their captain crunch french toast!

And if Motel isn’t exactly your cup of tea, then there will definitely be something in Hamilton’s food scene that will get your tummy rumbling. The French is also the most gorgeous french style bistro and its as delicious as it is pretty. The Diplomat is also an option for a diverse tasty meal and glass of wine while The Heather is an unforgettable experience with its seven course meal and its exclusive 12 seating which makes it more than just a dining experience.

Shops

It’s always the places you least expect to have the most adorable shops. Hello Baked is only a few steps away from Motel Restaurant, and its the perfect stop for some sweets while shopping adorable knick knacks and small home decor goods. Not only is the owner an absolute sweetheart, but the space is so inviting and there is no doubt that you will leave with handfuls of goodies. If you give yourself some time in Hamilton, I have no doubt that you will find cute shops to enjoy while touring the area.

Nature

Hamilton is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls, so if you visit Hamilton then a waterfall hike is a must! Albion Falls or Tiffany Falls are a personal favourite, but Hamilton’s long list of falls to visit is a great way to explore the area and really get reacquainted with nature in the best way possible. With both of these falls and a lot more have easy access to it, so if hiking isn’t really your jam, then you will still be able to view and enjoy the falls up close and personal. Once the season changes and the autumn foliage is finally here, then these trips to the falls are gonna be beautiful and definitely a must see!

Extras

Sometimes the destination isn’t as fun as the adventure, right? That’s why we were so thrilled to visit The Sunshine Doughnuts Co. in Burlington before heading to Hamilton for the day. We had heard great things about Sunshine Doughnuts and it did not disappoint. From their delicious flavours to their fun and shiny interior vibes, we were so happy to have the time to pop in for a doughnut and drink.

The road to Hamilton itself has so many extras to choose from. Kelly’s Bake Shoppe is a favourite with its yummy cupcakes and Hotti Biscotti if you are in the mood for a different treat! Needless to say, Hamilton has everything you need for that sweet tooth!
