Clever Methods to Prevent and Get Rid of Wrinkles

It’s a fact that we all age, but is it too much to ask that we age gracefully? Some lines and wrinkles on your face are inevitable as you grow older, but everyone would like to reduce them if they can. There are a number of remedies and preventative measures floating around for keeping wrinkles at bay or reducing ones that have already appeared. Many of these involves creams, lotions and potions that supposedly thin out fine lines and wrinkles, however, it’s debatable whether any of them actually work. And when should you start using them; in your forties, thirties or even twenties? If you want to prevent wrinkles or try to smooth out the ones you already have, try these simple methods.

Protect Your Skin

The sun can have a huge effect on the health of your skin. In fact, overexposure to the sun is the number one cause of wrinkles. Sun exposure is even more important that heredity when it comes to wrinkles, so staying out of the sun and much as possible will keep you looking youthful. When you do go out in the sun, make sure you wear protection. Put sunscreen on and wear a hat to protect your face, and sit in the shade as much as possible.

Lead a Healthy Lifestyle

There are lots of things you can do to stay healthy and reduce your chances of wrinkles. One of them is getting a good night’s sleep every night. If you don’t get enough sleep, your body could produce too much cortisol, which breaks down skin cells. But if you do sleep enough, your body will make adequate human growth hormone (HGH), which helps to keep your skin strong, elastic and less likely to wrinkle.

Beauty Treatments

The effectiveness of anti-wrinkle creams may be under debate, but there are several beauty treatments that will provide visible results. If it’s too late to prevent lines and wrinkles, consider having a facelift or using treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers. There are treatments that will do anything from smoothing wrinkles to filling in lines, and not all are as big a step as surgery. If you do decide to have surgery, choose your surgeon carefully and think long and hard about the decision.

Be Careful with Your Expressions

The way you move your face is a big contributor to the formation of lines and wrinkles on your face – that’s why they’re called “laughter lines.” We’re not for one second suggesting that you should stop laughing, but there are some things you could be careful not to do. The first of them is to get your eyes regularly tested. Squinting when you can’t read your book or see into the distance is a bad idea if you want to prevent wrinkles, so get glasses if you need them. Try not to frown too much too.

You can’t stop yourself from ageing, but you can do some things to stop it happening too quickly. Look after yourself, and you could stay looking youthful for longer.
