Coccolily Spring 2011 dresses

Here, we give you a little taste of spring with Coccolily dresses designed by Naana Tennachie Yankey, exclusively available in Canada at Shopgirls Gallery Boutique.

Spring has arrived, and summer will be fast approaching. Need a fun party dress? Getting dolled up to attend a summer wedding, or hell, us girls don’t need a reason to look fabulous!

Coccolily designer Naana Tennachie Yankey

The designer behind these beautiful creations is Nanna. I got the privilege to speak with her about her first private line, Coccolily. She expresses her love and respect for fashion and where she draws inspiration from to create this seasons’ pieces that are close to her heart.

“Basically the idea for this collection is very 60’s inspired, and that was the original direction, but then I love soccer and I love football! I was watching all the games last year, and my team of Ghana, because I am originally from Ghana, did fairly well, so I wanted to dedicate the collection to the ‘Black Stars’, so thats how I came to name it Black Star. I realized I wanted to keep the 60’s feeling, but inject my culture. I thought how can i do that and keep my flare? So I decided to use colour. This was my first time using colour, and I’m glad I did.

We are too!

Ranging in price from $150 to $250, the eight-piece Coccolily dress collection features short hemlines, colour blocking and lots of white. The high end, ready-to-wear collection has been available exclusively at Shopgirls Gallery Boutique since March 12th. Note that the blue dress below is luckily now available as well.

These dresses are sure to turn heads and make any Coccolily girl stand out in a crowd.

Apart from her talents, Naana served some great advice she followed once starting her collection:

In life, you always have enough for what you need in the moment, and you need to just go with it… just live.
