Skin has the tendency to become dry and not just during the colder months. This is as a result of the heat that steals your skin’s moisture. If you already have naturally dry skin, this can make the situation worse. Luckily, there are some simple homemade skincare recipes that will give you supple and gorgeous skin.

Get Smooth with a Scrub 

You need to exfoliate your skin about once a week to scrub away dead skin cells that accumulate on the surface, making your complexion dry and flaky. This should always be done before you use a natural face mask as it will help the nourishing ingredients get absorbed. Dead skin cells on the skin produce a barrier to products and ingredients, so get rid of them first to make your face masks more efficient.

Make a simple exfoliating face scrub with honey, oats, and olive oil. The oats will gently slough away dead skin while the other ingredients smooth and moisturize it. You’ll need 1/8 cup each of olive oil and honey, and 1/4 cup of uncooked oats.

  • Blend the oats in a food processor (stop before it becomes powdery), then place it in a bowl and add in the olive oil and honey. 
  • After cleansing your skin, apply the scrub, gently massaging it in. Pay special attention to any areas where your skin is drier. 
  • Sit with the scrub on your skin for about five or so minutes, then wash it off with cool water.

Slather on the Milk 

Don’t neglect the skin on your body. Now that summer’s here you’ll be showing off lots of accessories, so you don’t want dry or dull skin on display. A creamy moisturizing body mask is perfect for your skin and gentle enough for daily use. Best of all, the ingredients you need are right in your kitchen.

Mix together one teaspoon of milk, two teaspoons of milk cream, and a few drops of lemon juice. Since milk contains lactic acid, it is a natural exfoliating ingredient while it also keeps skin smooth with its luxurious texture. The addition of lemon juice is important because this citrus fruit brightens the skin and gets rid of any discoloration, which is why you’ll often find lemon extract in quality skin lightening products.

Simply rub the mixture over your body and leave it on for about 10 or 15 minutes, then wash it off in the shower.

Make a Luscious Face Masks

Avocados are very nourishing for your skin because of their buttery texture, and this moisturizing action is increased if you add honey to them. All you have to do is mash a ripe avocado with some honey and mix it well until you have a smooth, creamy consistency. Apply it to your skin and sit with it for about 15-20 minutes. This is so easy and instantly gives you more luxurious skin!

Replenish with Rich Moisturizers

If you have stubborn or chronic dry skin, you can make your own luxurious body moisturizers. One easy recipe combines lots of soothing and totally natural ingredients.

You’ll need 1/4 cup of coconut oil, one tablespoon of aloe vera juice, 1/8 cup each of cocoa butter and shea butter, and one tablespoon of an essential oil of your choice, such as sweet almond or jojoba.

  • First, heat the shea butter, cocoa butter, and coconut oil until they become creamy, then remove them from the heat. 
  • Add the essential oils and aloe vera. 
  • Continue stirring so that the ingredients blend beautifully. 
  • Store the mixture in a container so that it’s available when you want silky smooth skin!

DIY Dry Scalp Treatment

Dandruff can be annoying but a natural scalp mask that you make yourself can help to soothe the dry skin on your scalp and keep it moisturized so that your hair can be healthier.

  • Whisk together four tablespoons of almond oil, one tablespoon of Greek yogurt, and two tablespoons of a mashed banana. 
  • Massage it into your scalp for about five minutes before washing it out. This concoction is rich in fats and Vitamin E (thanks to the almond oil); lactic acid in the yogurt that eliminates product buildup and dirt; as well as Vitamin A to replenish moisture (found in the banana).

Get Supple Lips

Your lips can’t be pout-worthy if they’re dry and flaky. An oil that really works wonders on your lips is jojoba oil. It contains Vitamin E that nourishes the skin as well as zinc that is hailed as the mineral which hydrates your lips, providing protection against environmental elements which can lead to flaking and chapping. All you need to do is apply some jojoba oil to your lips before bedtime so that it can work overnight to give you kissable and soft lips by the morning.

After applying the apple and lemon juice, you want to seal in moisture with apricot oil to moisturize the skin. Apricot oil is light on the skin, therefore perfect for summer use, and filled with antioxidants such as Vitamins C and E to guard against sun damage as well as aging.
