GOTO does TIFF- Closing Night

Toronto International Film Festival ended its 10-day gathering with the world premiere of Paul Andrew Williams’ emotional, yet funny movie “Song for Marion”. After enjoying a dinner at Il Fornello with my date, we walked across the street to Roy Thompson Hall. Unlike the opening night, I arrived early to bask in the final night atmosphere of bittersweet excitement.

Piers Handling (TIFF CEO) and Cameron Bailey (TIFF Co-Director) welcomed us to the closing night of TIFF and welcomed director Paul Andrew Williams, and lead actor Terrence Stamp to the stage. We were also told that there would be a surprise after the movie, and low and behold there was! A choir came out on stage and sung a beautiful song that truly complimented the movie and the feel-good emotion it brought. Speaking of feel-good. I balled throughout the entire movie, no lie. The film was just full of emotions that I couldn’t quite contain myself. Embarrassed a little, but oh well, I’m a big baby!

Once I dried my eyes of tears, I was able to leave my seat and enter the Closing night Gala, luckily, in the same venue. I found that even though there was a massive crowd, the venue allowed for more movement circulating the Roy Thompson Hall. It was decorated with everything “Song for Marion” including flyers and pictures scattered around the party area. There was ice cream being given out during the Gala but I was not prepared to wait in the long line which I’m sure my body thanked me for.

While most enjoyed the alcohol, I opted for my favorite, Diet Coke first, but indulged in some champagne soon after.

The DJ was playing great tunes as I two-stepped to some Michael Jackson. The crowd hit the dancefloor and the mood of the final night was great.  Ultimatly, the closing Gala was a great time. So many celebrities among some of Toronto’s finest was a great mix for the TIFF 2012 closing night party.

TIFF 2012 was a great success this year with Toronto swarming with celebs ad must-see films! I was so happy to be a part of it this year and I had a blast!

A big thanks to Diet Coke for the invite!
