Lillet Blanc Summer Apéro

264

Now that Summer has arrived and the weather is just perfect, there is nothing better than relaxing with friends and enjoying some great wine and nibbles. And that’s exactly what we did this past weekend.  We had some of our favourite gals over to enjoy an apéro get together filled with Lillet Blanc, along with delicious treats as we gabbed about the latest gossip and shared a few laughs to complete the extra long weekend, which we were more than happy to have.

These times, are the best times.

A popular tradition in the south of France, apéro is more than a drink; it’s a healing ritual like kicking off your heels or loosening your tie at the end of a long day.The apéro is an hour long, post-work get-together with friends spent conversing, sipping cocktails and nibbling hors d’oeurvres. The sun setting, wonderful company and the Lillet Blanc was the cherry on top to a gorgeous Toronto day.

Lillet Blanc is a classic apertif from Bordeaux and a staple of sidewalk cafes and early evening cocktail parties across France. With hints of honey, candied orange, lime, and fresh mint, Lillet Blanc is a versatile spirit. The strong grapey taste of the Lillet wine mixed with the delicious nuts, Provençal olives and paper-thin slices of saucisson sec really created a yummy taste. We opted to have the wine clean and over ice, but there are so many more ways you can incorporate Lillet into your new favourite Summer cocktail with recipes you can find here

Lillet Blanc is available at the LCBO for $17.95
