Say Goodbye to Body Confidence Issues

It is thought that 91% of women are unhappy with their bodies, according to some statistics. Body confidence issues are rife around the world, so you’re not alone in feeling low self-esteem. It is thought that just 5% of women have the bodies that we see in the media every single day. Is it any wonder we all feel inadequate? The key is to feel good about yourself, which we know is easier said than done. Here are some of our top tips to do just that.

Write a List

This is a great way of reinforcing positive thoughts. Write up a list about everything you like about yourself. It could be physical, or it could be to do with your personality. You may even want to rope in some friends and family members, to add to the list. Once you’ve finished, stick it somewhere you’re always going to see it. Above your desk in the office or on the bathroom mirror. You will now see this every day and remember why you’re so great.

Stop Chasing Impossible Dreams

If you’re constantly dreaming of a body like Mila Kunis’ then stop it! Celebrities and models have a round the clock team to make them look that good. Magazines are airbrushed, and films aren’t realistic. The silly thing is, most of these women also have their own body confidence issues. There’s always something they want to change. They could spend hours in the gym and at the hairdressers, but they’ll never be totally happy. Stop chasing those impossible dreams and be happy with who you are.

Make Some Lifestyle Changes

There are two reasons why changing your lifestyle around can make you feel good about yourself. Firstly, eating right and exercising often can make you look better. Your skin will clear up, your hair will be shinier and your tummy will be tighter. But it’s not just about that! If you’re looking after your body, then your mind will naturally follow suit. Exercising releases endorphins that genuinely make you feel happier. Eating junk food can make you feel depressed too. Stop reaching for the doughnuts when you’re having a bad day. Go for a run instead!

Make Some Bigger Changes – But Be Smart

We are already ahead of you. We know that for some, the solution is to make a big change with things that make you feel less confident. Whether it is a facial feature, your weight or something on your body you just don’t like, we assure you – this is not always the solution, however if it’s a must, be smart about it. If you plan to get work done and take that big step, we urge you to do your research, and then research some more. Talk to a surgeon like Dr Richard Peck MD and find out what this may involve so you know the risks you are taking. We’re not saying that cosmetic surgery is going to change your whole attitude overnight, however, those who are seriously struggling with a part of their body may find that it can give you the missing piece to your puzzle. Whether your issue is fixed or not, you have to remember that there is more to a simple nip and tuck!

Smile

It may sound strange, but smiling can work wonders if you’re feeling down. Not only that, but we promise it will make you feel better when you get that smile back from others. How many times have you smiled back at someone? You’re instantly more welcoming and approachable, just by grinning. Give it a try and see how it makes you feel!

The fact is, everyone has their own body hang-ups and worries. The key is to accept that this is who you are. No matter how many changes you make on the outside, it’s how you feel on the inside that counts.
