Wine of the Week: The Chloe Collection

Wine of the Week: The Chloe Collection

If you still haven’t been to the iYellow Wine Cave, you are seriously missing out. Last week, this modish underground venue celebrated its first birthday with a cool that only iYellow can pull off. For my readers that are unaware, The iYellow Wine Cave opened it’s doors last November and is currently the venue for all iYellow Wine School Classes and for hosting visiting Winemakers from all around the world – Think of it as one of the coolest clubhouse in the world. The iYellow Wine Cave has ‘a back alley way entrance, reminding you of something you might find in Brooklyn New York, [combining] the trendiness of downtown Toronto’s Queen West, with the charm of a rustic European wine bar…The energy is very special and it’s uniqueness is undeniable, plus, there is always lots of wine!’ (You can read more about the Wine Cave on the iYellow Wine Club website).

The party was made extra special by founder Angela Aiello’s stunning spread in Chloe Magazine, a Canadian luxury designer publication, and also by delectable gourmet grilled duck from King Cole. Tying it all together was the luscious Chloe Wine Collection in both white and red. The namesake of the Greek word for ‘blooming,’ Chloe describes itself as ‘a wine made for wine enthusiasts who want to appreciate all things extraordinary and timeless, Chloe wine is crafted to inspire your own memorable occasions.’ Their simple yet sophisticated label captures their mission beautifully through an elegant label tied neatly with a bow. Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor (pre-White Diamonds and MJ) would sip this wine in cigarette pants and cardigans on the banks of Le Seine while purring in their silky smooth voices- timeless indeed.

Chloe’s Red No. 249 embodies elegance and richness, offering a ruby Northern Californian red that smells of dark fruit and espresso. This wine is luscious, velvety and smooth with hints of ripe fruit and finished with a hint of spice. While not overly complex, this wine is beautiful, drinkable and delicious…and that is how I felt drinking it. In fact, as I prepare to hibernate for winter, I think I will start saying things like ‘Dahhhling,’ purchase a long vintage cigarette holder, stock up on Chloe Red, and prepare for a winter of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Sabrina and Roman Holiday… Dahhhhling.

Chloe is available at the LCBO for $17.95
