World Mastercard Fashion Week S/S 2014: Backstage Beauty- Joe Fresh

Backstage at Toronto Fashion week is a whirlwind experience that everyone should experience at least once. Keep in mind that if you’re not careful you may get run over by the dozens of hair and make-up gurus deep in concentration.

Together Redken and Maybelline worked their magic in creating beautiful and inspired looks for the shows that graced the runway this week.

The Spring/Summer 2014 Joe Fresh collection was created to suit anyone, while the hair complimented the looks. Under the guidance of lead stylist Jorge Joao, Redken’s vision behind the Joe Fresh hair look was ‘East meets West’. Beginning with clean straight hair a deep left part helped create a soft side-swept do’. Redken Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine ensured hair would have a sleek shine under the bright runway lights and camera flashes. If you’re looking for a way to offset the static that happens to many of us during the winter, give this product a try.

A low, chic ponytail was the cherry-on-top of Joe Fresh’s beautiful collection. Secure the look with Redken Fashion Works 12 to keep your own look ‘fresh’ and flyaway free all day.

The Maybelline makeup look was all about natural beauty. Clean and nourished skin laid the base for a simple day-to-night makeup look. Makeup maven, Grace Lee, explained that the Joe Fresh look was inspired by the “fresh from the spa” look. Dewy skin was created using Maybelline Baby Lips… who would have thought this lip product could be so versatile? Grace put a small amount of Baby Lips in the inner corners of the eyelid and the cheek bones. If you are looking for an easy way to recreate this look, a clear lip balm is the key.

The real star of the beauty look was the full, natural brow. This is a look that can be intimidating to those of us who grew up in the time period of over-plucking.

The look was simple to create with the new Maybelline Define-a-Brow eyebrow pencil with attached brush and toping it off with clear Great Lash mascara. Once again, versatile products help create a polished, pretty and budget friendly look.

The most important lesson I learned is that a natural hairstyle is best complemented by a natural makeup look. Maybelline and Redken showcased a look that isn’t only easy to recreate, but is functional for any girl of T.O. any day of the week.
