Fjällräven Fall 2014 Preview

Incase you’re thinking “Fee-Yell-What?”, Fjällräven is pronounced “Fee-Yall-Raven” and means arctic fox in Swedish. I was lucky enough to not only learn the proper pronunciation, but I got the chance to see the Fjällräven brand up close and personal a while back to see the latest for their Fall 2014 preview.

While we may be well into Spring, as Canadians we can’t help but think that it WILL get cold and we will have to get prepared for anything the weather brings us. Since beginning in Sweden in 1960, Fjällräven has become a leading outdoor brand and continues to develop timeless, functional and durable outdoor equipment.

From their condensation free tent to their iconic Kanken backpacks, the brand has been dedicated to making the outdoors accessible AND comfortable for everyone. This Fall, the brand is introducing G-LOFT Supreme – a proprietary high performance synthetic insulation, which we’ll all be needing when it gets chilly. Perfectly fitting for the Canadian climate, the new collection will offer world class warmth and excellent thermal properties in extreme wet and cold conditions.

All of you Canadians can collectively take a deep sigh of relief….

An item I have been in love with for some time now is their Kånken backpacks. Originally built for Swedish school children, the Kånken is one of the most popular items from the Fjällräven brand. Acting as both a backpack and a bag with handles, the design of the bag has kept its original design since 30 years ago and have only changed in colour – allowing more than 20 colours to suite anyone’s style! Not only is it water resistant but it’s pretty darn cute too! I was incredibly lucky to be given a backpack and I have yet to leave it at home. Whether I use it for my laptop for the day or an overnight bag for a quick trip, you can really take it anywhere!
