How To Prepare For A First Date

How To Prepare For A First Date

No matter how old you are, going on a first date with someone new is nerve-racking. You panic because you want to make a good impression and look nice. Well, have no fear, I’ve got some expert advice to help you on your first date:

Don’t Go Overboard With Makeup

You always want to look nice when you’re going on a date. Well, to be honest, I always want to look nice wherever I go! Although appearance shouldn’t matter, we feel like it does. Which is why we spend time doing our makeup and making sure we look nice and pretty for our first date. My tip would be that less is more. Don’t cake yourself with layers of makeup, it will look bad. Sometimes just a subtle bit here and there can be all you need.

Dress Appropriately

The way you dress is very important on a first date. You want to give off a good impression, make it look like you made an effort. Sweatpants are comfy, but they’re not good first date wear! Similarly, you don’t want to go overboard and turn up in a prom dress; it could give out some weird vibes. You should also dress depending on what time of day it is and where you’re going. A first date at night in a posh restaurant means you’ll make more effort compared to a coffee date at lunch. If you’re going out for a nice dinner, then high fashion dresses are a great choice. They can make you look stylish, beautiful and show that you’ve made an effort. The person you’re meeting will appreciate that you’ve taken the time to look nice.

Make Sure You Smell Nice

I think it’s key that you don’t only look nice, but you smell nice too. No matter how well dressed you are if you smell bad things can go downhill. Make sure you’ve had a shower before hand and used you best shampoo and body wash. Then choose the perfect perfume to accompany the evening. Pick one that smells nice and people will notice. Guys love the smell of girls perfume, but only if it’s a nice one! And, you don’t want it to be too overpowering, it can have a negative effect.

Be Confident And Calm

When you’re going on a first date, then you’ll probably be nervous. This is only natural; everyone gets nervous! In fact, the person you’re meeting will probably be nervous too! Try and put a lid on the nerves and relax. Take deep breaths before you arrive and stay calm. You want to be confident and carry a conversation the whole time. If you’re nervous and uptight, it could make things a bit awkward. But, if there are any awkward pauses, think of some quick conversation topics. Don’t panic, not all first dates will be perfect and flow smoothly.

Be Yourself

I’ve saved the most important piece of advice for last; be yourself. Don’t try and be something you’re not. You want someone to like you for who you, so be true to yourself. And If they don’t, well, it’s their loss!
